WP Ajax Related Posts Picker is a plugin help you search (via ajax) and pick some posts that you thinks really are related to current post. You can configure the number of search result, show thumbnail, use Timthumb for thumbnail… You also can use function and shortcode wherever you would like your list to be shown.

All the IDs of posts you’ve choosed are in custorm field with meta key “_arpp_ids”, separated by comma and you can use it for your purposes.
