When you’re troubleshooting issues with your site, and trying to reproduce a reported problem, it is incredibly helpful to know details about the system of the person who reported the problem.
However, many non-technical users will not know the answer to your questions about browsers and JavaScript and cookies, and sending them to a site where they can get these details can feel overwhelming for them.
That’s where the “Send Support Details” plugin comes in. It works on your own WordPress site, so it feels comfortable to the visitor, and in most cases, it’s completely automatic—no forms to fill out or details to worry about. (For users who have disabled JavaScript, there is one button that needs to be pushed—and that’s it.)
The details you’ll get The email sent by the plugin includes the following information:
User agent string Operating system Browser (name and version) Visitor’s IP address JavaScript status (enabled or disabled) Cookie status (enabled or disabled) Screen resolution (if JavaScript is enabled) Browser size (if JavaScript is enabled) Color depth (if JavaScript is enabled) Flash version (if JavaScript is enabled) User details (if the visitor is a logged-in WordPress user)
Note: the plugin does not support sending through SMTP. It uses WordPress’s PHPMailer class.
